McKenzie Angler Fishing Reports

July 20, 2008

McKenzie 7/20/08

The McKenzie has been fishing well more or less all the way up and down the river from the top down to the mouth. The lower river is much more confined to evening rise fishing, but there have been good evening sessions with nice trout coming to the surface for you hatch matching bugs. The upper river has been fishing very well throughout the day. Steelhead fishing has been steady, and both swinging and nymphing tactics have both been producing.

Fishing a dry and dropper is going to be the most productive during the daytime hours, and the upper river will provide the best results for the effort. Hatches of PMDs, smaller mixed caddis varieties, little yellow stones, and large adult golden stones have been coming off about everyday. River levels are very low, and water temps remain very good as of late.

Tight lines!!
