McKenze "Redside" Rainbow Trout
Think of a McKenzie Redside and you think of a line screaming, crimson gill plated treasure that resides in waters that are cooled by the high Cascade mountains. The sight of a resident Coastal Cutthroat trout slashing at your McKenzie green caddis fly puts excitement into your trembling hands while setting the hook. Try to see your fly amongst thousands of swarming caddis, but not knowing if it just was eaten by that big slurp, “Oh no…I missed it!!” These are typical days and evenings on the McKenzie– something that might tempt you to join us for a float down the river for a guided trout fly fishing trip!
We offer trout trips for everyone from beginners to experts, and our local area has excellent and diverse trout fishing opportunities. Spring, summer, and fall are the months that we run guided trout fishing trips, as usually winter has unfavorable water conditions. Spring and fall tend to be the best for catching the largest rainbows, and summer has the most predictable fishing and best weather. The areas of the river that our guides fish are dependent on time of the year, water levels, and most of all, current fishing conditions.
